The Influence of Veitch on Devon
by Caradoc Doy
The Veitch family influenced our landscape through design and construction of gardens at various important historic parks and homes within Devon as well as by the many trees and other plants brought into Britain by their many plant hunters. This talk briefly covers some of this work and features important properties such as Killerton, Bicton, Poltimore, Luscumbe Castle and Streatham Hall, as well as some of their municipal work.

The Garden History of Exeter
by Todd Gray
Exeter has a rich garden history which is both surprising and unusual. This lecture chronicles some of those gardens and shows how gardens were subject to changes in fashion.
The cost is £5 per person (£3 to Civic Society members).

To book please contact the Secretary of the Exeter Civic Society (Pamela Coleman) on pcoleman.ecs@btinternet.com or phone 07857 599232.
