The 2014 Annual General Meeting will be held at Escot House near Ottery St Mary on Thursday 3rd July.
Escot House has been the home of the Kennaway family since the early nineteenth century, although there has been a settlement at Escot since Norman times. The previous house, built in the seventeenth century was destroyed by fire in 1808. The house sits within a landscape park and the present owners have created a visitor attraction sympathetic to, and in harmony with, the natural heritage of the estate.
It has been suggested that Lancelot (Capability) Brown may have been involved in the design of the parkland, although documentary evidence is lacking.
The provisional itinerary for the AGM is as follows:
10.30h Assemble with refreshments on arrival
11.00h Welcome and AGM Business Meeting
11.30h Talk by John-Michael Kennaway, "Fall and Rise of a Country House"
14.00h Tour of Escot gardens and parkland led by Mr Kennaway
Booking details will be announced here in February 2014. SAVE THE DATE.
