In the footsteps of Darwin and Marianne North.
An illustrated talk by Penny Hammond and Sue Minter.
In 2008 Penny Hammond and Sue Minter retraced the journeys of Charles Darwin and the Victorian traveller Marianne North through Chile. Their route took them from the island of Chiloe in the south to Valparaiso in the north. This talk matches the plants and locations they would have seen and includes images of the oil paintings created in the field by the intrepid Marianne (for background information on Marianne North see here).
When: Thursday 24th March 2016 – arrive before 1.00p.m. for a tour of the garden with Richard Soans. The talk will start at 2.30p.m.
Where: Tuesday Room, Sharpham House, Ashprington, near Totnes, TQ9 7UT. Directions will be sent to attendees.
Cost: £5 (DGT members); £6 (non members of the DGT).
