A walk to explore the extensive designed landscape of Clovelly, led by Simon Bonvoisin and John Rous, owner of Clovelly. Simon is a partner with Nicholas Pearson Partnership, specialising in the conservation, restoration and management of nationally important landscapes, including many in Devon.
First, we will walk eastwards along the Hobby Drive, created in the early nineteenth century, to the Harbour viewpoint. We will return and take the coast path taking in the Cabin viewpoint, Angel’s Wings umbrella, Gallantry Bower, Cave viewpoint and Summerhouse. Then we will proceed to Clovelly Court gardens including the terraces and walled garden. We will stop for a picnic en route and will conclude with a cream tea. For those preferring a shorter and more level walk will be able to peel off and rejoin at the gardens. We would expect to finish about 4pm. Bring stout footwear and picnic.
