Private visit to Wood, South Tawton
with John Milverton and John Clark
Wood is a Grade I registered landscape - one of only five in Devon - designed at the beginning of the twentieth century by Thomas Mawson around an Arts and Crafts house for which he did the ground plan. The gardens comprise a series of formal enclosures with various garden structures including a loggia with roof terrace overlooking the bowling green, a tea house, twin gazebos, lake, stream, and extensive walled kitchen garden. The house and gardens are currently being restored prior to opening as a medispa.
By kind permission of Mr James McDiarmid.
John Milverton is a Planning Consultant with a practice in Devon and John Clark is the DGT's Conservation Officer. Both have extensive knowledge of Devon's designed landscapes and will conduct the tour of this fascinating site.
