Many members may have visited Marwood Hill Gardens just outside Barnstaple. They were created from rough pasture by Dr Jimmy Smart from 1960's, but this visit will include the gardens to the north of Marwood House, originally owned by Jimmy Smart and developed by DGT members Dr Tom and Hilary Bigge. Here can be seen the Camellia Forest planted by Jimmy Smart. We will also have exclusive access to Marwood Hill Gardens, a tour with head gardener Matthew Brewer and are privileged that Dr John Snowdon, the garden's owner and nephew of Jimmy Smart will welcome us on the day. Marwood Hill Gardens holds the national collections of Astilbes, Tulbaghias, Japanese Iris and the Marwood Hill Garden Heritage Collection of plants that are unique to the gardens.
Cost includes morning coffee/tea, garden entry, tours and buffet lunch.
