Description:

Larkebeare is adjacent to St Leonard's Church and represents a rare survival of a villa landscape.  The house was built in 1862 for John Charles Bowring, and the grounds laid out by Veitch.  There is a ruined earlier, possibly mid-eighteenth century, summerhouse in the grounds. The grounds boast a variety of mature specimen trees.
