Do not miss the nineteenth century Italianate terraced gardens at Tapeley Park-renovated with exotic plants colour-themed by Kirsty Christy and Mary Keen in the 1990’s with the Dairy Lawn border designed by Devon nurserywoman Carol Klein.

Also enjoy the eighteenth century ice house and shell grotto as well as the walled garden. The later contains a unique cement-built glasshouse range dating from the 1930’s which has straight glass  but an overall curved profile. It dates from the period when the Christie estate diversified its vegetable and fruit production to supply the new north Devon hotels such as the art deco Saunton Sands. Also enjoy the permaculture (agroforestry) garden dating from the 1990’s. It is Hector Christie’s ‘baby’ and one of the oldest in the UK.
