The Trust offers a range of Bursaries for education, study and research to individuals who are ordinarily resident in Devon. These bursaries support:
- Course fees for individuals intending to pursue or already engaged in a career related to historic designed landscapes.
- Gardeners working in, or studying, historic designed landscapes with the costs associated with attending short courses, seminars, conferences, or workshops on relevant topics.
- Activities that promote public understanding and engagement with the history and significance of Devon’s garden and designed landscape heritage, such as research, surveys, and publications.

Recent examples of bursaries awarded by the Trust include:
£750 to study the RHS Level 3 practical at Bicton College - a psychologist working with children and families aspiring to move into therapeutic horticulture;
£726 for online study in garden design with the British Academy of Garden Design - the head gardener at NT Castle Drogo, seeking greater understanding of the designed landscape in her care;
£380 to study the RHS Level 2 online (part funded by the Giles Trust);
£750 to study the RHS Level 3 online - a gardener at NT Arlington who applied after attending the Devon Professional Gardeners event in February 2025;
£471 for garden design study at Bicton College - a self-employed gardener in a private historic garden in Devon, who also attended the Devon Professional Gardeners event in February 2025;
£750 to study RHS Level 2 online - a gardener beginning her horticultural career and already volunteering at a NT garden.
