Bursary success!

Having been awarded an educational bursary, Linda Jameson has now passed her RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture at Bicton College.

The qualification consists of both the practical and theory of horticulture and includes propagation, maintenance, plant science, biodiversity and climate change.

Linda is one of the team of garden volunteers who work at the Italian Garden, Great Ambrook and spends most of her time there running the plant nursery, propagating and caring for the plants.

"The course has proved to be invaluable in providing the horticultural knowledge that I needed, enabling me to share skills learned with fellow volunteers, children an visitors to the garden.  Thank you once again for the support of the DGT."

Other recent bursaries have included £750 towards the cost of studying the RHS Level 3 practical at Bicton College. The recipient is a psychologist working with children and families and aspires to move into therapeutic horticulture.

£726 to study garden design online with the British Academy of Garden Design.  The recipient is a head gardener at a National Trust garden within Devon and hopes the garden design course will help her to further understand the designed landscape the she currently cares for.
